Our Mission

Our Mission

Wright Cultural Heritage Foundation preserves, documents, and educates the public about African American cultural traditions — with a focus on hip-hop culture and the African American roots of American music and car culture.

We tell these stories through documentary filmmaking, free community festivals, youth arts education, and partnerships with the Black, Latino, and Pacific Islander communities whose creativity continues to shape these traditions.

Three pillars

•    🎵 Hip-Hop & Music Heritage — Documenting the African American roots of hip-hop and American popular music through film, archives, and education.
•    🚗 Car & Lowrider Culture — Honoring African American contributions to car culture and its intersections with Mexican-American and Pacific Islander communities.
•    🎭 Festivals & Community — Live cultural events and youth programs that bring heritage to life for new generations.

What We Do

Preserve

We document African American cultural heritage — hip-hop, the roots of American popular music, and African American contributions to car culture — through original documentary films, oral histories, and archival programming made freely available to the public.

Educate

We present free and low-cost community festivals, panel discussions, museum partnerships, school programs, and digital media that interpret the artistic, historical, and social significance of these traditions.

Develop

We invest in the next generation of African American artists, filmmakers, and cultural workers through paid apprenticeships, masterclasses, and youth education programs tied to our festivals, productions, and media output.
